Transmission fluid cools and lubricates everything inside. It breaks down over time, faster in trucks that tow. Servicing it on schedule is the best way to make a transmission last.
Diagnose before replacing
Some shifting problems turn out to be a sensor, a solenoid or the computer, not the transmission itself. We scan and test first, and some solenoid problems can be repaired without replacing the transmission.

How often should transmission fluid be changed?
Go by your owner’s manual. Trucks that tow and cars that do a lot of stop-and-go driving usually fall under the severe-service schedule, which calls for it sooner.
